Back in the day, you had the choice between classic metals, yellow gold or white gold, but today there are many more possibilities. We recommend some over others so this article will take you through what metals we find are best to work with, in your custom engagement ring or wedding band.

1 Style

Before we get into the properties of different metals, the first thing you may want to consider is the person who will be wearing the rings. What’s their style? Does she (or he) wear more yellow gold or rose gold with warmer tones? Or do they prefer silver jewellery with cooler hues? Do they mix their metals?

2 Skintone

Next, you may want to consider skin tone. With colour considerations, you don’t have too many choices when it comes to precious metals so we recommend choosing a metal based on their complexion that will pop on the skin.

Of course, you need to consider the cost of the metal you chose for your ring. Some metals are more expensive than others. Platinum is an expensive metal, more than gold, but it feels heavier but it’s harder and more difficult to maintain over time. Precious metals are called ‘precious,’ for good reason.
